CH Zeus v Ohligs
[aka CH Zeus v Merscheid]
[aka CH Zeus v Ohligs-Mercheid]
(CH Ador-Colonia x Schmunzel v Merscheid, unregistered)
Born September 30, 1906.
Owner: Hermann Kadow, Beuel a. Rh.
This was Hermann Kadow’s first Dane of note.
Breeder: Jos. Bohmer, Merscheid.
Zeus’s title was not recognized by the DDC back then (Holland was not part of Germany and only German titles and “affiliates,” like Austrian ones, were accepted); but he was obviously one of the breed’s most influential sires and was used often by other breeders.
This dog won many prizes and was a very important progenitor of the breed. He was obviously very recognized as worthy since his head is the emblem of the West German Dane Club.
Hermann Kadow was a noted photographer and probably took the picture of Zeus that is shown so often.
