Unfortunately puppy "brokers" (businesses which specialize in selling a variety of puppies - usually small breed) have sprouted up in increasing numbers around Columbus Ohio. They obtain their puppies from the notorious Ohio Amish puppy mills, though often claiming they breed the puppies themselves.
They not only flood advertising sites with their puppies, but also flood review sites with fake 5-star ratings - particularly when responding to legitimate unhappy customers' complaints.
Our Waggin' Tails testimonials come directly from our puppy owners, and if anyone would like to contact our owners, I'll be happy to send your email address to the puppy owner and ask the owner to contact you directly.
I have asked that our puppy owners be absolutely honest and upfront with folks asking questions about us and our puppies.

Maia is just the sweetest little doll baby ever! She just has the nicest disposition! Honestly, I can't get over what a CALM soul she is, especially for being a puppy! Xena is 10x more excitable than she is!
She's drinking and eating well. Plus, she has been great about going outside to go potty! No house accidents at all! At this rate she'll be training Xena! lol She is really getting comfortable with the house now and is starting to explore. She really likes toys that squeak. She loves the tennis balls and the Hugglehounds toys. She's a very good hunter, lol. She will pounce on one of her squeaky animals and drag it back to her "den" and maul the poor thing. It's too cute!
She is such a Daddy's girl!!! He calls her name and she comes running! She loves to snuggle with him! Although she likes to sleep next to me.
She is really loving her new home now. No whining at night, and she loves to give everyone kisses. Oh-----this is funny-----she was giving Xander [their son] kisses and he tried to "puppy" kiss her back (picture him trying to lick her!) It was so cute! Wish I could have gotten a picture of it.
Pippa slept the whole way home. When we got home, I stayed in the car and James let the girls out. Peanut got excited and then peed on Pixie who was underneath her! LOL Pippa drank some water, ate a little puppy mush and then CHOWED on some kibble. She is sleeping at the moment. I downloaded a video of their first meeting out in the yard on photobucket. I will be sending lots of pictures.
I didn't get much sleep last night! She is one floppy little puppy! LOL She flopped on my arms, on my head and on my neck. She was alright for awhile laying next to my stomach but the next thing I knew, she awakened me by flopping over my neck! I woke up at 6AM to Pippa trying to nurse on my neck! LOL I brought her downstairs and made her some mush. She has pooped and peed on her pee pads and not on the floor-so far!
She's eating and drinking just fine. She is eating and drinking and having nice solid poops. She's a hit and run eater. She runs up to the bowl, takes a mouthful of mush and zooms off. She's really eating her kibble like a champion!
Pippa is adjusting well. She's very brave! On her second day, she mastered the small steps and the small ramp up to the couch all by herself! We have a long ramp up to the big bed and she just ran up it like it was nothing!
Pippa is doing well. She already thinks she owns the place. She is the MOST active puppy that James and I have ever seen! It's like someone gave her crack,redbull,5 hour energy and a pot of coffee!
She is super smart and an escape artist! She absolutely LOVES the outdoors and tries to run out the door when we open it! She tries to eat EVERYTHING outside in the grass -she must be sick of hearing "no pippa" LOL
Pippa really seems to like Pixie and follows her everywhere! When they play, Pippa will grab Pixie's lip and she will yelp, but she doesn't correct her. I will usually correct her and redirect her behavior. Pixie is very patient with her while peanut is a little grumpy with her. Peanut just doesn't like to play as often as Pixie!
Pippa is eating and drinking well. Pippa is eating her kibble with goat's milk mixed in-she no longer wants it mushy. She seems to eat better off of a plate than a bowl. She already knows where the treat jar is at and will run to us when we get near it! She gets a baby milkbone(smaller than puppy milkbones).
She had her first taste of human food yesterday. I was eating on the couch and she snuck up the ramp and jumped on my plate-getting both front paws in my mashed potatoes! I think she licked her paws for an hour!!!
She is doing well on her potty training. She has only made a couple messes on the floor. She goes to the pee-pads 98% of the time!!! Weve been taking her through the doggy door but she won't be able to do that on her own till she gets a little bigger. She does well outside-she just follows her sisters lead!
Bruno is the best little guy I could have ever ask for. He lay's with me all the time.
He has been going out with the others and going potty and then chasing Moose (another Dachshund) in the snow; they are so funny.
We love him soooooooooooooooooo much. He's a keeper.
The little darlings are sound asleep again!! I just played with them some more and they ate again. They did their business on the pee pads. I absolutely love them to death already. Parker is on my lap, and Rudy is laying beside of me wrapped up in his blanket. We are one HAPPY family!
We all did extremely well the first night. We were little snuggle bunnies!!! The puppies didn't move much until around 5:00am.
I am SO GLAD I got the pair of them!!!!! I am loving every second. They ate their yogurt, mush, and even ate some dry kibble. They are WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for everything!!!!!!!!!!
Baby Sixpence is now "Xena - the Puppy Warrior." She whined for about the first 10 minutes and then kicked back for the long car ride home (3 hours to Cleveland), went into her new home, pranced around, collected some toys, and had her first "battle." There was a large area rug in the living room, and she felt it would be better if she moved it someplace else. So she grabbed a corner of the large rug and tried to move the whole thing. Not one to admit defeat, she put on quite a show of determination - and hence her new name. :-)
Xena had a great first night home! She is adjusting beautifully. She was so funny last night-you should have seen it. She was running back and forth, barking her tiny little "I'm so ferocious I'll bite your head off" puppy bark at what she must have thought was an interloper puppy, but it was only her shadow. And then she played chase with my daughter -- she was chasing Aurora around the ottoman in circles--over and over and over and then all of a sudden she'd stop and when Aurora caught up to her, she'd start chasing her in the other direction. It was so cute!
After she tired herself out, she wanted to snuggle, so she and I curled up in my favorite blanket, and she nuzzled in right by my neck and dozed off so peacefully. Truth be told, we BOTH dozed off! Then she woke up, wandered around a little bit and went potty, right on her papers! We were so proud and gave her lots of kisses and praise to let her know what a good girl she was! Then she and Mommy slept almost the whole night through!
Thank you again for this sweet little girl. She is the PERFECT addition to our family.
She is doing beautifully!!! She woke up about 6 in the morning and was exactly like the puppy in the video! She is so much energy and so much fun!
It was so funny last night. My son kept taking her puppy blankets out of her bed. And we kept telling him "no, those are the puppy's blankets." So I went and got him one of his blankets and I told him, pointing at Xena's bed "those are Xena's blankets, and THIS (pointing at his blanket) is Xander's blanket." Well, he went and took his blanket and put it right in her bed. So now it's hers, because she loves it and isn't giving it back!!!
She loves playing tug of war with my hubby! It's so cute to watch them play! She is getting better with travel too. We have been taking her for car rides when we go run errands, and she does beautifully. Just sits there like the princess she is! And she is such a good girl getting ready to go. She puts her little sweaters on so nicely!
And she is really getting her humans wrapped around her little puppy tail----everytime Mom or I leave the room, and don't specifically call for her to follow, she'll just sit there looking all dejected and whine till you come get her! She and Aurora played chase again last night. I can't believe how good she is with the kids. She will just roll over and let Aurora rub her tummy forever! She even holds still so Xander can practice learning to pet her. He is still getting used to her. He isn't used to having someone in the house that can be so fast and erratic moving, so sometimes he just crawls up on the couch to get away when he needs a break. But both kids have been so good with her. I'm so pleased!
Lincoln is wonderful! He is happy; he kind of bounces when he is running in the yard with the big dogs. It’s like he has springs in his legs. He runs he plays and runs through the house then comes over to me and barks. I pick him up and he cuddles in for a nap.
He has slept through the night both nights and just cuddles up and is out. I have woken him up both mornings taking him out to go to the bathroom with the big dogs. He has gone outside once but is using the newspapers so we are slowly moving the newspapers closer to the back door.
Levi and Lily [the family Weimaraners] found a bag with new toys in it and he got right in there and picked himself one out too. He has tried to take the big dogs toys from them and they just growl and move away and he turns and gets his own.
Yesterday we put our Christmas tree up and he just sat on the couch watching all the activities. As soon as we were done he was off and running through the house again.
Thank you for giving us all the supplies, that was really nice. Hopefully this evening I will decide for sure on his name. He is just so cute it is hard to decide.
Lincoln is such a cutie. He is my buddy. I bought the exercise pen but it has not been out of the box. When Steve and I are working either my son or daughter or niece have been with him and the Weimaraners. He rips and runs through the house chasing the Levi and Lily (the Weimaraners) and Brooke’s dog Bentley, everywhere. He is a doll baby.
He sleeps with us and he sleeps through the night. He sleeps right next to me and if he gets too warm he climbs up and sleeps on the pillow kind of wrapped around my head. He is my buddy and Steve loves him. I can’t thank you enough for such a special little guy.
We have been having a wonderful time with Lincoln, he is adorable; a cuddly little guy and such a cutie. He plays, then runs over barks at me to pick him up and he cuddles up and sleeps for a few hours. He is my buddy and Steve’s baby. He runs everywhere and rips and races through the living room, dining room and then into the kitchen then back the other direction. Then he comes over to get hugs and kisses and then starts running and chasing Bentley or Brooke’s friend’s dachshund Delilah. Then Levi and Lily get into the play and it is hilarious to watch them run through the house. It sounds like a stampede coming through; so it is best to sit on the couch and let them run past. LOL
We just love him so much he is so full of personality it is unbelievable. Everyone loves him and hugs and kisses. He has more toys than most kids, it is crazy. Brooke has bought him two sweatshirts and a Christmas sweater already and he got lots of toys for Christmas. He carries his "moosie" around and it's so cute. When we go to bed at night he wants it laying by him. He sleeps in bed with us and when we get up to go to work he goes outside with Levi and Lily, then comes in and gets in bed with Brooke or Jacob.
Closer everyday. Last night they were running all over the place! The only thing is they are both so stinking fast!!!
The boys and I went to have lunch with Renee at work. The back of the building is creek side and very pretty. They have some picnic tables there. They had so much fun!! When the wind blew it would rain leaves. The dogs were all eyes watching all this activity!!!!
When you put Brody in the sling he immediately curls up and goes to sleep. When we were leaving as soon as Renee put him in the sling he just goes limp!!! Too funny!! He had a big day for such a little boy. Still napping. I'm going to have to wake him to eat. Everyone there thought they were so beautiful.
I get to enjoy him every night cuddled in my arm with his nose so close to my face I feel his breath. He is so friendly and outgoing so much like Fagan.
Fagan and Brody have been playing non stop. This morning Tara had a volley ball game so we put both boys in the play yard. Well it went great!! They were both warm and cozy when we got home. I could tell they had been sleeping. So all is going so well!!
Everyone that meets him loves him. All Rick's friends just thought the puppy was wonderful. They already knew Fagan and think he is such a good boy!! Yesterday Fagan taught Brody that friends are good and today he taught him when Mommy and Daddy go away, you just take a nap and they come home before you know it.!!
I'm in puppy heaven!!
[Fagan is their nickname for Limerick - another Waggin' Tails puppy and half-brother of their new puppy, Brody.]
Thank you so much for giving us our new little girl. We are so happy and in love with her. I am so happy Lucy is doing so well. They were playing and rolling on the floor together just now. We are having so much fun.
Last night went really well. Only one potty break and she whined to wake us up! She even went potty outside like a big girl yesterday.
Roxy crawled underneath our love seat and started puppy barking for 15 minutes straight at Lucy. She would poke her nose out and when Lucy would go to her she would bark more and pull back under the love seat. Lucy was looking at all of us with this confused "What is this crazy girl doing?" look but Roxy was having so much fun. She thought it was hilarious to bark at Lucy because she knew Lucy was too big to get under the couch. Little stinker! My parents hadn't heard her bark yet so they were cracking up.
She's absolutely beautiful and so full of energy. We laugh that she has two speeds, On and Off. There is no in between.
I just wanted to let you and Mel know your little boy is doing just fine and adjusting well. He has slept through the night since day one. He is so full of himself and he chases Bella [another Waggin' Tails Dachshund] around like he is the KING. But she then chases him, too. He has gotten everyone wrapped around his little heart and we all love him dearly. This morning I had to wake my son up early and he didn’t respond to my trying to get his butt up so I did the next best thing. I put the little TimeMAX alarm clock in bed with him and he woke up then with all those little puppy kisses and licks all over his FACE and head!!! It was so cute.
Gracie seemed to do well her first night! My mom brought Ozzie to my room to say goodnight to Gracie, and he sniffed her a bit. When my mom began trying to pick him up again to go back to her room, he didn't seem to want to leave! She woke up at 1:45 am and used the pee pad, then 4:00 am again she had a bowel movement. She woke up again this morning around 6:00 and I fed her some yogurt, then she had a tiny bit of mush. I didn't want to keep her stomach empty for too long. She then went back to sleep until almost 9:00 am! She only had one accident at that time, but I think it's because Ozzie came with my mom to say hello and she was a little excited.
Just wanting to update you on baby Gracie! She has been doing well has had a good appetite despite all the excitement and has ruthlessly been trying to play with Ozzie. He seems to be doing well too and is receiving tons of recognition.
Gracie did so well again yesterday! She can be quiet and angel-like, but once she gets going she's hilarious. She jumps and plays until she tires herself out and falls fast asleep.
Her eating has been great, as well as bowel movements and urine output. Sometimes she gets distracted while eating but I'll just place her back in front of her bowl until she denies further food. She also had nibbled on some dry puppy kibble every once in a while.
Ozzie and Gracie have begun playing at times too! That is until Ozzie decides he's over it and walks away lol. He has been so patient though, and I couldn't ask for more from him! They get closer every day :) Ozzie and Gracie are so much fun to watch, I'm happy she's done so well.
Gracie is doing great! Actually, last night was the best she's slept yet. She only got up once to go potty and slept later this morning than usual. I think she knows my bed is for sleeping because she falls right asleep every time she lies down there. She also has quite the appetite and goes right to the kitchen, sits on the floor mat, and looks up at the counter every time she wants food.
Ozzie and Gracie are getting along better every day and play together well. Ozzie even lets Gracie sleep next to him. Last night, he was in his bed sleeping under a blanket and she kept running and jumping on him, then laid her head down on the mound of blanket. He lets her do these kinds of things and seems to be acting like an older brother.
I'm so happy with how they're interacting and have loved getting to see Gracie's personality develop so far. It's funny she was one of the quiet ones because she loves to play and jump around!
Eros did sooooo very well last night! Him and I curled up on the couch around 9:30ish and fell asleep. He did eat and drink a little bit before he fell asleep. He woke me up around 11:30 to go outside and he went potty. We all went to bed and around 3:30 he woke me up again. Another sucessful outside potty trip! Around 5:30, Jim woke up and went to the bathroom. Eros woke me up and I though he had to go potty again...nope...he just wanted Jim back in bed. He snuggled with Jim until about 8:30. He had his breakfast and then I took him outside and he bounced around for about 2 minutes and then went potty. He's such a good boy! He's loving his toys. His dragon and voodoo doll are his favorites and this morning he is already investigating more of the house. We are so in love with this happy go lucky little boy!
Things Eros has taught us...in two days:
1) Mommy is for snuggling and sleeping. Daddy is for playing
2) He only like Mommy's Tom's shoes (aka..my $50 work shoes)
3) If Mommy leaves the room it results in whining until he sees Mommy again. Daddy leaving the room means race through the house until Daddy is found.
4) If Daddy is holding him and Mommy comes back into the room, not petting him results in barking.
5) He HATES HATES HATES the sound of the lawnmower
6) Pet fairy noshers in a puppy kong will only be enjoyed if Mommy is holding the kong (and that stuff tastes really good)
He's keeping us laughing!!!
The past 2 nights he's slept until 6am!!!
He is soooo funny. He's getting better at sleeping until at least 6:30. But after that...it's bounce on our heads trying to get us to play. His housebreaking is going well. A few accidents here and there...but it's to be expected. He tries sooo hard to hit his puppy pads. He figures as long as one set of paws are on...he's good to go!
He is very much a mamma's boy. We just love him to pieces!!
[several months later]
Mellow is not exactly in his vocabulary. LOL! He still goes full speed then crashes! He is such a playful little guy.
I was laying on the floor last night with my head down and there was a solid 20 mins of bouncing on Mommy. The more I laughed the harder he bounced! We've found that some time of "Get Mommy's Hand" right before we turn out the lights makes for a tired pup. Every now and again he'll get a little too rough...but if I say "ouch! You gave mommy an owie" it results in immediate kisses to my hand.
He got to meet Lilly and Layla...they wore him out and they all had a blast. Eros was running around my parents house like he owned the place. Even sharing Lilly's food dish with her. He stood under her and they both ate dinner happily!
I've gotta go tackle a little man who is dragging my pj's from the bed into the living room!
Merlin had a good overnight. We went to bed around 12:45 & he slept almost 2 hrs. He got up did #1 and came back inside and played a little. Started really whining so took him outside again and he did #2. He’s such a big boy! Came in played a little and proceeded to sleep for 4 hrs straight.
This morning he has already eaten done #1, #2, and #1 again and is napping.
Cosmo [standard Poodle] has been such a good boy with him. Cosmo does not like it when Merlin whines. He rushes right over to see what the problem is. Both dogs are getting lots of praise for being so good.
Cosmo was playing with a squeakie toy and Merlin starts walking up to him and barking. Cosmo just looked at him like, “Hey kid, you may be the new kid on the block but I’m the top dog.” Lol
He has brought us such joy already!
Wanted to let you know how well Merlin is doing. He is eating so well and doing his jobs. No accidents in the house yet & his #2 are firm.
His new thing is to attack the leaves in the yard. I call him Braveheart when he does it. Of course, he doesn’t like it when I take them away from him.
He is so smart! In less than a day of being home he figured out that when he was done playing or done doing his jobs outside, exactly where to go to get to the deck to go back into the house.
He makes us laugh so much!!
Cosmo is doing so well with him. Merlin keeps trying to get the pom pom on Cosmo’s tail. Lol Last night Merlin was nosing the tennis ball & Cosmo would pick it up & than drop it so Merlin could do it again. I tell you these dogs are so darn smart!! It is so funny to watch Merlin follow Cosmo around the yard.
Cosmo seems happier. You know it’s so funny there are always toys and balls around (Cosmo would play ball all day!) but with Merlin really playing with them, it has made Cosmo more like a puppy too! They are having such a good time! Last night Merlin tried to climb on Cosmo’s back & Cosmo just turned around & looked at him and then continued playing with his squeaky toy. They are so funny to watch together.
On the ride home the boys were both very brave--Toki was a little unsure of himself and whined most of the way, but you could see how he looked to Dobby for guidance. Dobby was content to lay his head on Evan's arm and fall asleep.
Just wanted to send you a quick email to give you an update on the boys. They both slept through the night until 6:30 am (went to bed a little after 9 pm). They got up around 3 am to come up closer to us (I think Toki was on my neck/face).
I've noticed them slowly getting comfortable with the layout of the house (at least I am assuming so)--they are more "bold" in their chasing attempts. Now when they do their dachshund nascar races, they will run around the couch, hurdle through the "den" part of their ramp, run underneath the dining table, run back to the couch, have a stand-off underneath the coffee table, then finish in the kitchen for a quick bite to-go!
I am more and more thankful everyday that I didn't get that job way back when... I wouldn't trade this day-to-day watching of the boys grow up for anything in the world!
The boys are doing excellent (and are nice and chubby--we weighed them at one point today and they are both close to 7.5-8 pounds). I made chicken jerky for them the other day to use as training treats when we have "school" and they seem to go gaga over them!
Dobby loves sleeping right next to me and Toki has decided that my pillow is his throne. Separation anxiety training is taking its time--but they are improving day-by-day.
Also improving is their leash/walking on a leash skills--they walked farther today then they ever have and also realized how fun it is to make me/Evan run with them. Anytime we take them for a walk (or carry them the rest of the way) they are so eager to meet people. I have honestly never seen friendlier dogs in my life.
Speaking of eager to meet people, the other night we put on a comedy special on TV and Dobby eagerly went down his steps (from the couch) to run up to the TV and barked that he wanted to meet that particular comedian. I love them more and more each day.
Fritz and Lewy have brought such joy to our home. We want you to know these are the happiest well-adjusted puppies! Thank you so much for the care you have provided them.
They are fantastic little puppies with wonderful, huge personalities.
The boys have captured our hearts; commandeered the house; strewn their toys everywhere; hijacked a few rolls of paper towels, socks, shoes, underwear, towels; have late night party romps; they are jokers and pranksters, sassy and frassy.
I thank you SO MUCH for being just a phone call away to help out. Calling you was like when you were a kid and were sick and Mommy made you feel all better.
We think very highly of you and care for you deeply and tell people when they see Amber what a wonderful Breeder HOME she came from.
Your little Adora-Bella was playing with all her toys this morning when I left for work and is probably already napping with Daddy now. She is just so full of herself and so dang funny and cute!! She will play her little heart out and then just follow me around the house.
We love that little pumpkin head so much already!!
We just love our precious little girl and she is such a good baby girl.
I just thought I‘d give you a brief update on Lance. I’m tellin' ya that little boy is the apple of everyone’s eye! He is so precious I can’t stand it.
Lance is doing just awesome. Bella [a darling pit bull] next door is his best friend. Bella came over to play with Lance for a few hours. After they were done playing, they both just dropped on the floor and napped for a few hours. It was just precious.
I love how happy Lance is all the time. He's having fun meeting all the new neighbor dogs. He hasn't met one yet that he doesn't like.
The other night, Evan [son] and I were in my bed snuggling all 3 dogs, and just talking. It wasn’t time to go to bed, it was just a great place to love up all 3 dogs at the same time. Lance was cuddled up really close to Evan, while Evan rubbed his tummy. Evan was just staring down at Lance, taking in the innocence and trust that Lance was showing him. Next thing I know Evan looks over at me and quietly says “Mom, would you please call Jan and tell her thank you for making such a great dog?” I told him sure I would. I can’t even begin to explain how much we just love and adore Sir Lance fancy pants. He is so fun to just watch.
The funniest thing was a few weeks ago when my daffodils were in full bloom (over 1000) Lance would go bounding through them like Tigger through the woods in Winnie the Pooh. I laughed so hard, next thing I know, the phone was ringing, it was one of my neighbors laughing so hard she could hardly speak. She wondered if I could see Lance prancing through the flowers. He also likes to sit in the crotch of an oak tree. I think it gives him a better view of the squirrels from there. I will try to get pictures of all his shenanigans, and send them to you. What an awesome personality he has.
I have to tell you the funniest thing.Last night I was laying on the sofa watching TV. Rudy was at my feet sleeping, Lance was in the bedroom watching football with Lew and Evan. All of a sudden Lance comes running down the hallway (we have hard wood), and bolts on to the sofa with me. He then proceeds to climb into my sweatshirt THAT I WAS WEARING! He was rooting around like they do when they are making a bed, and then eventually settled in with his nose peeking out at my waist.
I assumed he had gotten yelled at and was coming to me for protection. I asked Evan if Lance had been naughty, he replied, "No, he was just laying there snuggling Dad and me and just got up and left, why?" I told him look at the lump in my sweatshirt, which was Lance.
Jan, he never even looked for anywhere else to lay, just climbed up in my sweatshirt and slept.
It was absolute heaven! What a dog!
Satin is an ABSOLUTE joy to be around!! There is nothing like a new puppy to make us young again. We are enjoying life!!
She bounds - and I mean bounds - around our house, happy and perfectly content. Woody [10-year-old Lab] is warming up to her, he now lets her run circles around him while he watches her with a big doggy smile. I think he is fearful of hurting her with rough play, so right now he just noses a toy to her and watches her go!!
We are proud, happy parents and we have not ever owned a puppy with so much personality. Consider us two very satisfied puppy owners. Thank you for raising such a playful, lovable puppy for us to love.
[Update a couple days later:] Clint called yesterday after he got home from work, he was fooling around in the house and missed the two kids. When he found them, Woody was curled up on the bathroom floor with Satin snuggled up to his belly. They were sleeping away!!
I've been at work all day and as soon as I got home I wanted to snuggle my babies. They both have adjusted so nicely. Last night they slept nose to nose :) They love to chase each other! It's so adorable. The baby will roll over on his back and "surrender" when he needs a 5 min nap lololol. He just fits in perfectly. Right this second, Alabama is barking at the baby because Stitch is more interested in the pig nose than Alabama.
We are so blessed to have y'all in our lives. You've been so good to us and have provided us with our two greatest loves. Thank you for everything and all that you do. We appreciate you more than we can express.
I thought you might like an update on Webber. He is just darling. He has lost his baby fat and is now down to 12.2 pounds and is quite svelte. He'd be great on the Paris runway--he has a great collection of t-shirts and I just found him a red raincoat. When I was in Australia, I picked up a pumpkin-colored fleece coat, which should see him through the fall on his walks.
Webber is incredibly lovable and affectionate and loves nothing more than to lay on his back and have me kiss his stomach. He is probably the smartest dog I have ever lived with. I can't say enough--he is just a wonderful companion and it is a joy to have him in my life.
[first day home] Good Morning Jan - Picasso peepee'd outside last night just before bed. I woke several times through the night but Picasso stayed sound asleep. He slept at my side with my arm around him. He is a cuddler. We went right outside at 5:30 and he pee'd again.
Yesterday evening I was sitting on the floor with them as they were playing. Picasso started to come to sit in my lap and I assumed it was to seek refuge from Woody, but he climbed in my lap, then when Woody would come over to us he would launch off my lap and chase Woody. So, he is initiating play with Woody and they have been wrestling almost non-stop. I think I even saw a butt-fu move from Woody.
They are actually wrestling right now. Picasso is definitely gaining confidence. Oh...the boys are taking a play break... Picasso just came over to me and is now sitting in my lap. He's such a sweet boy.
Juice is doing great. I got him neutered. I attached a picture of him with the E-collar on. He loved it, surprisingly. He thought it was cool and would strut around the house and in front of Reese like he was King Tut. When I took it off to feed him he would go over and nudge it to tell me to put it back on. Such a unique pup he is!
He loves blankets and heat so when I don't see him I have to go around the apartment looking near the baseboard heaters and under blankets.
He's such a lover, he has to have one part of his body touching me all night when he's sleeping. I also taught him to "give kisses." When I say "Give kisses!" he'll lick my cheek.
Just wanted to give you an up date on our Oscar since he is now a year old. I can hardly believe he is a year old already.
He is such a joy. He just recently was neutered and they just love him at our vets. He did wonderfully. Bounced back the next day like he never had surgery. I had him checked for heartworms and he is clear. He is updated on all shots and ready for summer.
He is up to 9.9 lbs and loves to explore our back yard. He is a bird dog. He sits in our sun room and watches the birds and loves to chase the squirrels (he never seems to understand that they go up the tree). His buddy Rocky sure was lost without him they day he had his surgery and the next couple of days we just kept him quiet with not a lot of activity, which was hard since those two love to run and play.
Jan, I just wanted to again thank you for the Oscar he is such a JOY in my life I would be lost without him.
Just wanted to send you a quick e-mail to tell you how much Oscar means to me. Today is his birthday he is 3. He is my snuggle bug. He and I snuggle every night he loves to lay next to the warm fireplace when it is cold and he sleeps with me under the covers at my feet. I still get so many comments on how unusual his coloring is. He is doing well and has a very large fenced in yard to run in and chase the squirrels. I can’t imagine my life without him. Thank you again for letting me take him home.
They did wonderful today!! I came home around noon and not one thing had been touched! Both of them used the pee pads (pee and poo).
[second day alone] The kids are doing GREAT!!!!! I worked all day yesterday and Greg's meeting ran over so I was very anxious to get home. Do you know that they did not tear up one thing? They both used the pee pads and the only clean up I had were a couple piles of poop!! My sister has been going over and checking on them today - she said they are doing fine!!
This morning when I was getting ready, I listened to them chase each other and then I heard nothing . . . I got a little concerned and I looked under the bed and in the extra bedrooms. . . No Delainey or Takoda. I looked in my closet and there they were, laying together in the corner. Love them!!
Delainey and Takoda are 100% in love with each other!! They are sleeping together, eating out of the same food bowls together, chasing each other, sharing their toys - much better than having a couple of kids!! ;-)
Just wanted to send you a picture that I took last night before we all went to bed!! I thought is was really cute (a little blurry - I took it with my phone). I had gotten up to go get everything ready for bed and they both jumped over and took my seat!! They are both doing tremendous!! I love them SO much - I stayed home an extra hour with them this morning so we could all lay in bed together - pretty spoiled huh??
[update] Delainey recovered beautifully from the spay and it only set her back a couple of days then it was back to her wild, funny little self.
Greg and I are planning a vacation to the beach with the kids sometime this summer - we just need to pin down the dates. I can't wait to take Delainey, Takoda had such a great time last year but this year will be so much better now that he has his sister to roll in the sand!!
I hope you enjoy these - she is one sweet baby and ALL of us love her with all of our hearts.
I've been meaning to send you a Buster update....I attached a couple of cute sleeping pictures. He has two speeds- running and sleeping lol....so it's hard to get a good awake picture. He is just the sweetest baby, we enjoy him so much!
Jan, I can't tell you how happy it makes me to have this little girl. I love her chubby little body and her puppy breath. Until she decided she wanted to go lie on top of Skipper, she had been laying on my shoulder in the crook of my neck. She helps fill the hole in my heart that Lexxie left behind. It's really wonderful to have this little girl!!
We are beginning to see the real Gracie emerge. She has been zooming through the house and is now eating enough for two puppies!!! lol!! When she gets sleepy she climbs up the stairs to the couch and snuggles up with Skipper. They are really cute together!
[a short time later]Gracie is doing great! Gracie is just the funniest little pup. She makes us all laugh. You once said she's an exuberant puppy, and that sure is the truth. Sometimes she just runs zoomies through the house as fast as her little legs will carry her.
Yesterday, I learned a new way to give her exercise and tire her out (especially effective for use at bedtime!)! We have vinyl throughout much of our house, and I have one of those Swiffer Sweepers -- the kind that has the disposable cloth that picks up dirt, lint etc. I was cleaning away on the floors, and Gracie thought chasing the sweeper was just the funnest thing! I let her "catch" the sweeper once in awhile just so she didn't get frustrated and give up. She is too funny!
Pixie is a happy puppy that loves EVERYONE! When she's outside and people come over to pet her, I have to make sure she doesn't follow them home!
She pouts when she gets in trouble and will run to the couch and pout under the blanket! She never gives poor Peanut a moment's peace - always in her face wanting to play.
Her favorite game is "fight like a girl". I can yell "girl fight" from anywhere in the house and she will come running and jump on my lap and slap at me with her paws - it's funny!
She went to her first Doxie meetup in January. She did great! She was a little butt-sniffing social butterfly! LOL She played well with the other dogs and was just so friendly with the people there.
[update] Pixie did great today! The spay went well and she is home with us! The vets and techs didn't want to give her up. They said she is such a loving dog - kissing and licking everyone!
Penelope's first night went very well. She was definitely a little nervous and confused when we first got her home, but after awhile she started to warm up and relax. I can see where your name for her originally came from [which was "Peekaboo"] as she loves darting underneath the couches and then poking her head out as if she is playing peekaboo. She relaxed and started getting very playful by the end of day.
We got her a comfortable little doggy bed and put it right next to my bed last night and she fell asleep after not too long. I woke up randomly around 4:30 in the morning and looked over and she wasn't on her bed, so I got up and started searching around my room for her.
I found her curled up at the foot of my bed in the portion of my comforter that was hanging off the side (my bed is low to the ground), it was very adorable of her and I eventually got her back into bed after a quick potty break. Everyone loves her and we are excited how quickly she is loosening up.
I will be sure to give Penelope a big hug and kiss for you. It is no surprise why you both loved her so much, she really has an infectious personality.
I would love to talk with others and share our experience with not only Macey, but the other puppies as well. I know I shared my experience with Harley to you, and people do need to be aware that there is a difference in a loving caring breeder and a dollar breeder!
The research you have done to give your babies the best of care really shows. It is a wonderful feeling to bring home a puppy that sleeps soundly at night and plays like a champ during the day!
People don't realize what goes into raising these puppies. I have learned so much from all your info. I hope that every person who comes across your site would read every page and suck up as much info that their brains would hold!! LOL
I hope that you would feel comfortable publishing our thanks!! I want everyone to see how thankful we are to have gotten such a wonderful puppy and how pleased we are with her!!!
I want to thank you for all the precautions you took and the form you had me fill out before you released one of your precious babies to me. Each day when I wake with three balls of warm puppy snuggled in my bed, I feel like I am the one that got the deal of a lifetime.
I am glad you have the standards you do. I didn’t mind filling out the application, because I believe the same as you do. I now know what purchasing from a good breeder means and what is meant when someone talked about the "temperament" of a dog. It was clear by Tinkerbelle and Angel's temperaments that they came from a loving and caring breeder. I have had many wonderful four-legged kids from breeders and rescues before, but, none as affectionate and gentle as my two little loves.
Babette was a skittish ball of energy that did not know how to show affection and had many health problems. She was suppose to be a pure bred Pomeranian and was purchased from a breeder in Ohio. She even came with papers, but in the end we discovered she was a mix.
Since the twins (as we affectionately call them) arrived a year and a half ago, Babette has become loving and protective of her two little sisters. Her favorite is Angel and they play all the time.
Babette used to bite so hard that she would break the skin when she was playing, but, after the arrival of twins she learned to be gentle, like they were with their mouths. It is amazing what having two little sisters did for Babette and how they taught her good habits. That only happened because of your care and training of Tinkerbelle and Angel.
Because of my experience with Babette, I had looked at many breeders before I came upon your site, and most of the so-called "good breeders" wanted up to $1,600.00 per puppy. Yet, they did not have your standards.
If you don’t mind, please put this letter on your website, so that other people can see how much I appreciate you and your efforts. I want this to be a testimonial to the both of you, Jan and Mel Harris and a thank you for giving me the best set of twins with four legs in the world. I don’t ever have to be duped or tricked by a puppy mill breeder again and thank you for your policy of never, ever selling to a puppy mill or bad breeder; I applaud you.
Wanted to update you on the little man! What a year we've had. It's been interesting going from Corgis to Doxies. Three pairs of glasses and one darling pair of heeled sandals bit the dust with our chewer. For awhile it was a constant occupation finding things that he could not destroy, but could keep him busy. Most of his toys have been "killed". His little duck is still a favorite and intact. He adores chasing balls and bringing them back to you. He will do it as long as your arm holds out.
As you predicted, he and Keelin run around this house with reckless abandon! Some times we turn the TV off and just watch it is so funny.
He has gone to a few flea markets and farm markets. He is a favorite and has had his picture taken many times by strangers. He met a beautiful little girl dachs. She is black and tan, and shines like a diamond. She unfortunately does not care for other dogs. Her name is Sofie and she fell instantly in love with the wee lad. Her parents were so happy, they stay in contact, and are planning a play date.
One old farmer looked at Fagan [Limerick's nickname], turned to his wife and said "Look Mama, that weener dawg has the measles!" [Limerick is a reverse Dapple who looks spotted.]
He loves everyone, and everyone loves him.
Fagan loves to help me in the garden. Every weed I would pull out Fagan would take and shake it til it was dead! Then he helped Dad pick up twigs. Time after time he saved his Dad's life by killing those dangerous twigs! I don't know how we ever safely did our yard work without this brave lad. At bedtime he was tired but fell asleep easily, with the knowledge he had put himself in harm's way time and time again in protection of his loving Mom and Dad. We slept well knowing we were in such such trustworthy paws! :-)
We went to the garden store today. Lots of people and kids. All the kids were drawn to him like a magnet!! The one he chose was a little girl with special needs. He rolled over and showed his beautiful tummy ever so gently, almost in slow motion. While she petted him she talked to him and crooned to him. The mother told me she rarely can speak well she has whole word stuttering. She gets very frustrated and quits speaking at all. The mom said, "Your little dog knows. We have worked with therapists and a couple times she can speak with certain dogs. No stuttering no limitation." She asked if he was a therapy dog. Told her no but but he totally calms my mother who has dementia. She says I should look into it because of the five little girls he chose her. The one that needed him!! I knew he was special!!!
We had a pleasant trip home with Lexy. She pee peed & pood on her peepad like a good little girl. We are just delighted!!
It was so nice to finally meet both you and your husband. You are one of a kind. We are so very much delighted with Lexy in our lives.... She is such a joy! I had no idea that a dog could bring this much love.
I'm convinced she's the cutest dog (do you think I'm being partial ????... Naaa)
I just wanted to tell you about Winchester's first vet appointment. He weighted 4.0 pounds and was completely healthy! He did not fuss about the vet clipping his nails or giving him his DAPP vaccine.
Our vet was very impressed with you as a breeder. Winchester did not have any fecal worms, which the vet was very impressed with; as well as the appropriate timing of all the vaccines and wormings you gave him! So, Winchester is a very healthy boy!
He and Peanut are good buddies, and they play very well together.
He's so much fun to have! When we walk him, we always get compliments about how beautiful his coat is, usually followed by "I've never seen a Dachshund with this coloring before."
Here's a pic taken shortly after Luna and Topper arrived home. We spent a few minutes in the yard so they could play in the grass as soon as we got home. Luna immediately went potty and I praised her lavishly. Emma came out in the yard to greet us all. She accepted the puppies straight away. As I'm typing this, Emma is laying by my side and Luna is in my lap. Both are sound asleep. Topper is downstairs with Steve, sleeping in his lap.
We've been outside several times today. The third time, Topper showed us where one of the fence boards was loose! We fixed that immediately! What a rascal - he had a good time playing outside.
Luna and Topper have had quite a few wrestling matches and Emma sniffed at them while they were playing, but didn't join in. I'm sure it won't be long before she's part of the fray.
It's been a memorable Mother's Day thus far. I think you can see in the picture that I'm very pleased to be the mother of twins! We're head over heals in love with them both.
[update] Emma is starting to play with the puppies. She and Topper played tug-of-war with a rope toy last night. More accurately, Emma took the toy away from Topper, but he wouldn't let go and she drug him all across the floor! It was hilarious!
Emma is also starting to join the puppy pile in bed and in my chair. Right now, Luna and Topper are in my lap and Emma is by my side. All are snoozing soundly. I'm please with the progress Emma has made. Both puppies have been very respectful to Emma and she's relaxing at last. That's a huge relief to me.
[further update] We have a pack! Emma played with Topper for about half an hour at bedtime last night. She invited to Luna to play, but Luna was just too sleepy to join in. There was quite a wild rumpus going on and Topper was having a blast. Emma also allowed Topper and Luna to lay on top of her as she was lying down next to me yesterday morning. It was so great to see Emma playing, smiling and laughing again.
The puppies have bonded with everyone in the house and it's so cute to watch them play together and explore Emma's toy stash. We have all the toys in a dog bed next to the doggy steps to my chair. Luna and Topper climb to the second step and then jump into the toy pit. It's so cute!
Fergie is such a sweet girl. She loves to give LOTS of kisses!
Jim brought home each of them [they have 3 other Dachshunds] a stuffed wiener dog toy last night. At first Fergie was afraid because of the squeaker, but this morning, would you believe she was carrying around ALL 3!!! She is just a riot.
I look at her sometimes and think about you, and what a good mom you are – how she was brought into the world with such loving care. She really is perfect, and we have you to thank for that. Not that the other girls aren’t “perfect” but we just never experienced with the other ones owners what we experienced with you. There are breeders and then there are “BREEDERS” You really are one of a kind. I’ve learned so much from you in just the year we’ve had her. Thank you!!
Izzie is doing fine. She has had no problems getting acquainted with Daisy and scoping out her surroundings. She is just a delightful little girl, we love her very much, I don't know what I would do without her and Daisy. She is a wonderful, beautiful little girl.
Sophia is doing great!! She has been playing hard with the rest of the girls and having a great time. We couldn't be happier with her
attitude... She is very sweet and loving. The weather has been warm so she has been able to go explore the backyard. My husband and I found another little Dachshund we couldn't live without so Sophia now has a sister she play with.
Jan... The puppy mush!!! Since the other girls have smelled that stuff they will not even think about eating supper without some. I have already had to make another batch!! So the other dogs thank you.
[update] Sophia is our little diva dog. She has really attached herself to our daughter Kathleen. Will and I think it's because Kathleen is the only person that sleeps as much as Sophia does. On the weekends we won't see them until lunchtime! (we think they stay up late and text their friends) Her best friends are the two Chihuahuas (Moose and Pancha).
Cooper did great all the way home. He whined for about 1 minute then settled down. He didn't go to sleep right away, he kept looking up at me. He finally put his head under my jacket and went to sleep.
We stopped at a rest area where I took him out to pee but he just kept following me and did not pee. He went the rest of the way home (asleep) without any problems. I took him out immediately when we got home to pee, which he did, and now he is asleep.
[update] Cooper is so sweet. He has a great personallity. I love his coloring. He loves people. Everyone who sees him can't believe how pretty he is.
I've taught him to sit and lay down. He learned these two commands very quickly. He's very smart! Every morning I give him his yogurt, when he is finished with it he barks at the bowl.
He climbs into the shower with me now, and he makes me laugh!
He has a great personality! Thank you for breeding such beautiful and great tempered dachshunds! He is the sweetest puppy ever!
Today, we took Cooper to the dog beach. You can let your dogs off leash to run on the beach and in the water. It took me a little while to get him into the ocean. He was so funny, he'd hop thru the water. The salt didn't seem to bother him at all. He had a great time. He found a little white male dog to play with and a boxer. I took a couple of tennis balls for him to chase. He was so tired and full of sand when we left, he was asleep before we pulled out of the parking lot.
After reading your descriptions of Cooper's Mom and Dad...he is a great combination of them both!
I love him to pieces! Thank you very much for all you do. I am so blessed to have found you and the wonderful babies you bring into our lives.
Birdie is such a funny pup. Loads of personality and love. Hattie and she become closer each day. Now along with with play, there is some adorable cuddling together. Thank you again. We love our puppy.
[iupdate]I was just about to write you to tell you what a fun and fabulous first Christmas Birdie had. She and Hattie played and played and must have opened a hundred doggie toys ! Unwrapping is their favorite part. Paper everywhere! I may have a video of the tearing open of packages. They were going craaaazy ! It was hysterical.
We love our puppy so very much and can't imagine life without her. Hattie feels the same now too. Birdie has kept her one light, sparkly blue eye and is gorgeous from the tip of her wagging tail to her floppy ears and cute snout. So smart and so sweet.
We think of you so often, Jan. She is such a sweet, funny and beautiful puppy. The bright, crystal blue eye, the big ears and the lovely Doxie face are unbearably cute.
[further update] We LOVE Birdie so much ! She is beautiful and wonderful, and smart, and what a character! We laugh all day. I get to spend so much time with Hattie and "Bert," as we call her (she is such a little tomboy).
We could not ever have gotten as perfect a puppy had we not found you and therefore our precious little girl. She is on my lap now helping me type and watching the screen... so brilliant and inquisitive. Thank you for this wonderful blessing of Little Birdie.
Kris a.k.a. " the happiest puppy owner in the world "
Mr Stanley was four months old yesterday!!! I attached a couple of pictures that I took this afternoon.
I swear, he has the sweetest personality that I've ever seen in a dog. He's soooo ornery, but really sweet at the same time. I have no idea how he does it!
He and Barney have become quite the little buddies. They both sleep curled up beside me, and Freddie and George sleep with Tony. I don't know what I did before I had him - he brightens up my world so much.
We had an amusing moment last night - We were all laying in bed, and Barney was chewing on something small, and he had the funniest look on his face....kind of a 'disgusted' look. I got the "thing" out of his mouth, and here it was one of Stanley's teeth. Ewwwww!!!!! I still don't know why Barney was chewing on it!
Little Stanley's doing great, though. He's been chewing really heavy on a hog snout today, so I think he's teething pretty good now. I can't believe how fast he's growing. He's still gorgeous - one of the prettiest Doxies that I've ever seen. So sweet too.....I'm really smitten by him - Can you tell?
Moby did really well on the ride home. He slept most of the way and didn't cry too often. Last night he also did well. He slept through most of the night. He is a sweet heart and a lover boy. He likes to curl up on my chest or right by my head. It's really cute. He met my Mom yesterday on the way home and she absolutely loved him!! I absolutely love him and enjoy his company. He makes me laugh everyday! He is such a beautiful boy!
[update] He makes me laugh when I really need it and he is so loving. He is a good boy and I'm so happy that he is mine. My Mom adores him and loves to watch him on days that I'm working late. She'll tell me funny stories all the time.
Yesterday, Moby and I were at her house where he loves to run around outside. My cat, Charlie, who lives with my Mom has really started to bond with Moby. They are becoming good friends!! They will chase each other around the yard.
Moby has a toy that my Mom got him that he only gets to play with when we go there. Its a duck that squeaks. Yesterday, Moby goes inside and then comes back outside with the duck in his mouth and runs all over the yard with it. Then he takes it over into some taller plants and starts digging a hole and then puts the duck in it!! It was the cutest thing! Then he would run away and run around the yard for a while. He would go back get his duck and go somewhere else and start the process all over again! My mom and I were laughing so hard.
He is getting a lot bigger and only grows more and more adorable everyday!!!
[further update] Moby and I have been doing great. He is the best little guy and I am so glad that I have him in my life. He is an absolute joy. He can be a little stinker sometimes, but he is the most loving and cuddly boy.
I have begun to really focus on training him. He goes to obedience school once a week. The lady that teaches the class is all about positive reinforcement. She, too, is NOT a fan of Caesar [The Dog Whisperer] and is teaching my Mom and I both how to positively train little Moby. He is doing excellent!! He now sits whenever asked. I must say he is a quick study and a VERY smart boy.
I think my favorite moments with Moby are in the mornings when I first wake up. As soon as my alarm goes off he comes and lays up by my head and we snuggle for a couple minutes. It's a great way to start off the day! But he is also a pretty lazy boy in the morning, too! After I take him outside to go potty he always runs back to the bed and wants back up so he can go to sleep!
He loves playing with his tennis balls. He got some for Christmas and he was so excited that I didn't have time to open them up for him, so he took off running with the whole bag!
Just thought I'd shoot you an email and let you know that the boys are just as active as ever and loving life. We take them everywhere with us, and they have a ball going to the beach in Florida.
We took them to the pet store the other day and this guy approached us and asked where we got them. After all the questions he told us he was a breeder Ky and gave us his card. So I checked out his website, but after looking at it, I noticed he sells his retired breeding dogs and rescue dogs. So he doesn't even take in rescue dogs to help them - looks like he takes them in to make a profit. Sad.
Just wanted to give you an update on Bana. She is SUPER! She is getting bigger and twice as coordinated. She is running/hopping around the house. She prefers her first and last steps to be leaps. :-)
I can't tell you how much she is looking up to Yogi. She's started to play-bark and play-growl when they are playing - it's so cute.
Yogi likes to carry his food to wherever we are and eat. So Bana is stealing some of his food and doing the same. Yogi is doing great with her. Very sweet and tolerant.
I can't tell you how much we are in love with our little girl.
[update] Yogi and her are getting to be great friends. She is becoming more and more ambitious. Growing so fast. I can't tell you how beautiful she is becoming. She had her first vet visit the other day. Everything went without any problems. She is healthy and worm free.
Without a doubt we will keep giving her and Yog's hugs and kisses from you.
Minnie was an angel on the way home. She slept almost the entire way. We did stop twice to pee and explore a bit. She was quite interested in her new house. She found her bed right away and put all her toys in there first thing.
Minnie is doing great. The girls are warming up to each other and really starting to bond. Matt and I just love her. Her favorite place to nap in the afternoon is on his lap as he works. Everyone who has met her just loves her!
[update] We just came back from a vacation to the beach in North Carolina. We rented a house and were able to take Minnie with us. She loved the beach! She loved digging endless holes in the sand and sunning herself-just like the girls.
Adolph is in love with his baby brother, Fritz. Jim called me at one point and said "Listen!" and he put the phone down and I could hear them wrestling. Jim said that Adolph came over and nudged him with his nose then Fritz POUNCED, pinned him down and it went on from there. Jim said they wrestled themselves to exhaustion and slept for more than an hour. HAHAHAHAA! Oh! And when Fritz fell asleep, Ade went over and laid down up against him to nap.
Fritz has met Darion the Shih Tzu from down the street and Finnigan the poodle that lives the opposite direction. They (the owners) went nuts over him. Adolph allowed them to meet and play for a moment then he nudged Fritz away like "Ok, ok, that's enough. Don't wear him out."
As I type this in our upstairs computer room, Ade is asleep next to my chair and Fritz is asleep with his head on my foot. His itty bitty breath tickles like you wouldn't believe.
So, the first 24 hours is a major success. Ade's been so very very sweet and gentle with him. And Fritz has been curious and has explored every inch of the house. It's been going great.
[update] Fritz is AWESOME!! He's absolutely wonderful. He worships and adores Adolph. They're never apart from each other - EVER. Everyone in the neighborhood just adores him.
We are all doing fine here. Bree is just the love of our life, she is such a little lover!
There was a lady down at the vets yesterday that spent about 20 minutes with me asking all about Bree. She just loved her. She said that she had never seen this color before and had never seen a more beautiful dachshund than our Bree and thought the name was a perfect match for her.
All the girls who work at the vets just love Bree to death and always remark how beautiful she is! We just have a DOLLBABY!!!
Tori and Bree are just great. They just love being the best of buds. That little Bree just melts my heart, she is soooooooo loveable. Giving kisses to everyone she can lavish them on. She is everyone's friend. I love our Tori also, of course, but I have to tell you that Bree just tears at your heart strings. She is the best little buddy I have ever had and I can't imagine my life without her!
[update] Bree and Tori and just the best of friends. I have never had a pet like Bree. She is the most lovable little thing. She just wants to be with you and on your lap at all times. Bree is one of a kind and I will never be able to put into words just how much she means to Rick and I.
Please continue to send me pictures of everyone born by your kids - they are all adorable. And, if they come close to having the personality that Lilli has they will be fantastic kids. After all, I was waiting to get a new one until I got on line and found you - by mistake! And then I saw the pictures and fell in LOVE with Lilli and your kids!!!!!!!!
To answer your question - when she is awake she can be a Tasmanian devil girl and then she can be sweet as all get out!!
She is still a puppy and testing everything!! I love her with all of my heart and everyone that see her agrees she is adorable as hell!!
Charlie is such a good little guy. He's already starting to learn how to go to the bathroom outside. He can be very ornery sometimes though...haha. He just loves Remington. He wants to play with him all the time.
[update] Charlie and Remington have become great friends. I took Charlie for his first swim a few weeks ago in Texas. He didn't seem to like it very much but I think he'll like it better once he gets big enough to paddle. He's doing great with the traveling as well.
He's a very confident little boy, but when he's sleepy he comes right over and lays on Mom's lap.
I have been so busy, and wrapped up in my little guy!! But I have attached some picture of my furry friends!
I was really kind of nervous at first. You know, with Jelly Bean [English Bulldog] being so big compared to him!! But they have become the best of friends!!
At first Jelly would look at Buster like he was crazy, because he has sooo much energy!! But now they roll around together chase each other, and she has learned to become so careful, but still have fun!!
When Buster cries about something, she is right there being caring and loving. She is constantly trying to clean him, and take care of him, well...when they are not chasing each other around the house or yard!
[update] Buster likes to take naps right next to Jelly Bean, as you can see, in the one picture! They have become good friends and love each other very much!
I love him too! He's like my little guy! He follows me and cuddles with me, and is always licking my face!!
[first afternoon] My family is just smitten with Carver. He was a little wary of the new faces but after a few minutes he played until he tuckered himself out :) He slept with me last night and did very well. He slept the entire night.
[update] Carver is doing well! We just came from our first vet visit and I'm so proud of him. He was great. I went in with great confidence and armed with my information :) I met with the Vet tech first and after talking for a bit he said..."you've done your homework!" LOL. And he told the Vet the same before he came in to complete the visit.
Carver is such a joy and sooo smart and determined; and he's quite a looker; I can hardly take him for a walk without someone stopping to ask me questions about him :)
~*~ From Leilani and Odella Puppy Dumpling's Family ~*~
Leilani, the little monkey, is very spoiled!! She loves to be in someone's lap or arms.
Yesterday my sister Christy was over. She sat down at the kitchen table and Leilani walked over to her. My sister was talking and didn't notice her. Leilani looked at her and barked. My sister looked down at her and then over to me. I just smiled at her. Leilani let out another little bark. My sister looked back down at her and then over to me. I said she wants you to hold her.
My sister just looked at me and said are you serious? I told her yes I was. Mom and I then told her how Leilani likes being held and will bark at you if you don't pick her up when she comes to you. My sister bent over and picked her up. Leilani thanked her with a few quick kisses.
Leilani is doing great! She plays her little heart out, loves on everyone, and then tries to squeeze in a short nap! She is such a joy. She gets along with everyone in the family very well. Of course everyone loves her and is more than happy to hold her or play with her, whichever Leilani is in the mood for.
My youngest sister, Jessica, the one that just had the baby, Brody always refers to Leilani as "Brody's puppy." Leilani loves Brody. This afternoon I was sitting in the chair rocking Brody and Leilani climbed up my legs. She sniffed him over and then nuzzled her little head right up beside him and went to sleep. It was very precious.
And, as you can see in the pictures Puppy Dumpling was taking center stage to show everyone how you properly use a pee pad!!!! lol
I will try to get a picture of Dad and Puppy Dumpling sleeping together. It shouldn't be hard to do. Lord knows they LOVE to do that!!!
Mom and Dad had to run some errands. Puppy Dumpling was asleep at the time. Dad did call while they were gone to check on his daughter (he wasn't referring to me lol.) When Puppy Dumpling woke up I took everyone out to potty. Then I got my camera and thought perfect time for pictures. Then, just as I got outside Mom and Dad returned. Well, Puppy Dumpling was off after 'her Dad.' The only picture I was able to get was her following Dad through the door! She sure does love Dad!
Everything is wonderful. Little Harvey is bringing so much love and fun into our home. Henry is a wonderful, nurturing big brother to him. Henry tends to Harvey every time he makes a peep. Harvey follows Henry everywhere...if Harvey has trouble keeping up, Henry waits.
Harvey loves his puppy milk bone after pooping in the yard and I am introducing him to brushing his teeth! He took the tooth brush and hid it under the couch, When I reached under to get it, I found a bunch of papers and magazines he dragged under there, too!
Harvey dragged a 3-foot by 2-foot braided wool rug from the back door, across the kitchen, and into the living room! He is really very strong and he was very proud of himself! He took a nap on the rug when he was finished.
We are all going to bed now after a nice long walk in the evening air...Harvey rode in my arms on the way home for the last half of the walk, but he is going a little further each time!
He is doing such a good job, and seldom has accidents in the house...He is so proud of himself when I tell him "Good Pee!", after he goes outside! He just wiggles all over with joy when he is told how good he is!
I looked for Henry's puppy for almost 6 months. I could have purchased a dozen little Doxies right here in Pittsburgh. What made me decide to get my puppy from you was the fact that I knew your puppies were loved and cared for the way a dog deserves to be loved and cared for. I am so glad you are so thorough in asking all the right questions! I thought your application was very appropriate and I would have gone to Alaska to bring little Harvey home to join my family if I needed to!
My husband I received 2 puppies from Jan last year, Magic and Cookie. We had to put our little Peanut down at 13 when we found out she had cancer that had spread and she had heart problems etc. We were at a point where we said no puppy for at least a year etc. and I was looking up rescues somehow ended up on Jan's website and she sent me the picture of Magic. Long story short my husband said that's just what we need "some Magic in our life". She was the BEST thing that happened to us!
Peanut was a puppy that the breeder never handled. We got her at 12 weeks and she was very loving with us but never wanted to be cuddled and just unusually unfriendly to anyone that was an outsider.
Magic came with a totally different personality. She loves people, and the love that she got from Jan and Mel as breeders just can't be compared.
To this day if I need something I can call or email her. I have several times been afraid something was wrong, was I doing something right? were they teething correctly? etc. and Jan has been so awesome and answered every question and her true LOVE for them (both Magic and Cookie) is incredible.
Magic ended up having a very playful personality so we got her Cookie as a companion, also the best thing we did.
The fun we have had watching them together is priceless. I have never had 2 puppies at ever in my life so this has been quite the experience and they are quite the opposite little girls, lol. Cookie is super cuddly and loving and wants to be in your lap 24/7, Magic wants to run and play with toys.
I could go on and on about how much I love them and all but I honestly I would NEVER ever recommend anyone but Jan. I love how she makes sure her puppies go to loving homes. That right there says a whole lot about her. She has been such a blessing for my husband and I, we had a lot of personal loss and then we lost Peanut.
I have never had a friend that has had a better puppy, and of course no one can guarantee a puppies personality etc. but I believe these puppies have such an amazing start they just adjust better in their new homes because of this. They are loved from the moment they are born and it truly shows.
Cookie and Magic became sisters immediately. The very first day, Magic started to put her head on Cookie as if to say it was her little sister and she was taking care of her.
They are always together and they love each other so much. I can't imagine our life without them. Today I still email Jan and consider her a friend. I just think the world of her. I think she is fabulous, she KNOWS her stuff as a breeder!
Ok, so I wrote a novel, I think you realize I am truly a fan of Jan's, she is amazing. I can't say enough about her. I love her and I know I can ALWAYS pick up the phone if I needed her if something happened to one of these little ones and she would be there to help guide me on what to do. My vet wouldn't even be there for that. Jan just cares that much.
Bailey's trip home was not to bad, he whined for about 10 mins, so Marissa got out his blanket and covered him with it, and after about 5 mins he settled down and went to sleep.
When we got home we thanked Oscar for taking care of the house like we normally do and gave him a hug and kiss and then we put Bailey down on the floor and said to Oscar "look what we got for you."
Oscar sniffed Bailey from head to toe and back again and followed him everywhere he went! ...Jan, I was so proud of Oscar !!!!! They both slept on the bed with me by each other and did really well. Right now I am talking to you and Oscar is laying by my feet and Bailey is on my lap taking a nap!!!
Bill and I would just like to thank you again for letting us have one of your babies, his home will be happy, he will be loved forever and I promise I will send you photos regularly of him so you can continue to watch him grow, plus I have a new friend to stay in touch with too!
[update] Oscar and Bailey are doing just great!!! They are sharing things now and sleep together really well !!!
I have sent you some new pics of both Bailey and Oscar, there is a cute one of Bailey asleep on Michaela, he is on his back fast asleep with his paw in the air and his tongue sticking out, it is cute!!!!!
There are some of him playing hide and seek under our bed, he is playing the game with the girls because he knows they cannot get under the bed, clever little cookie, huh!!!!
There is one photo of Bailey surrounded by pillows, the story behind that one was funny!! I had been doing chores all day so I decided to take a break and have a cup of tea. I was laying on the bed enjoying my tea when Bailey got up on the bed too, he saw all the pillows and put them all in a pile and lay on top of them got himself comfortable and promptly fell asleep!!! LOL He didn't even move when I moved to go back to my chores, I believe he stayed there for quite awhile sleeping!!
We had a real good trip. Bam Bam is a very well behaved little guy.
When we got home Lacy jumped on my lap and just stared at him.
Finally, she got one of her favorite toys (a green alligator), brought it to him and dropped it in front of him. She was persistent and kept picking the alligator up and dropping it in front of him. He finally took the toy and ran with it.
[update] They played hard today. I think they are going to do great together.
Thanks again, Jan. We all love Bam Bam already. It was a long trip but well worth it.
Katie met Maggie and she was so excited when she saw her, she just bounced circles around Maggie. Maggie was real good with her, she put her paw up once, as if to say " would you just calm down, kid". I think they'll be great pals.
Mom adores Katie and takes her everywhere with her. She even has a special dog seat for the car. Katie and Mom were just meant to be together.
Lucy and Lola are doing well. We moved this weekend. I can't believe how much joy the girls bring me when I'm feeling down. The unconditional love (and snuggles) have helped me tremendously through the rough patches.
She gives LOTS of kisses. Two nights ago while we were watching a movie, she was laying across my chest her snout on my shoulder, snoring away. She cracks me up! Then when I got up and moved her, she blink blink blinks and squints and looks at me like a child that's just woken up. Like, hey what's going on!?!?!? lololol
Lucy licks my brain too!!! Lola is infamous for it as well. They are two peas in a pod I tell ya! I literally have to peel Lucy off of me to get her to stop licking my face. She is wild, does this frantic, licking attack. I can't help but laugh.
[Sally was purchased first and then a week later, they returned and also purchase Chewy]
Wow, Sally's been really good so far! She was a little whiny in the car, but I think she's adapting well. Her and Lucky get along well, thankfully, and she's been sleeping well.
The whole family really love them. We'll send pictures soon, but they're always so active, that pictures usually end up blurry!
[update]Sally and Chewy are doing great! They're having fun in the snow, too. They are so playful and we love them more than ever!
