Beautiful, sound, lovely front, strong rear, moved like well-oiled machine. Incredible soundness, substance and near-perfection of conformation. Samson was not gigantic, nor did he have a coal-black mask that reached to his eyeballs; but he did have a clean head with proper planes, dark eyes and expression.

Dolf along with his parents are often referred to as The Royal Family. Dolf was used as a breeder in ALL colors “for betterment of the breed.” A product of this practice was Ajax vd Klausenberg. The very famous Dolf vd Saalburg (brindle) was bred to harl female “Ute Orplid”. From this mating came Jagla Moguntia – harl dog. Jagla was judged the best Great Dane at the Seiger show in 1932 but the award was withheld because of the mixed color breeding. There is a parallel male harlequin – Bsg Karus von der Rotburg. Karus is also the product of a mixed color mating fawn x harlequin – however the Seiger title has not been withheld from Karus. Dolf was bred to his half sister, Jutta vd Rhoen to produce Anita v Rupprechtsplatz.

Double great-grandson of CH Prinz Fuchs, 34 US Breed winner including BOB Westminster 1934. One of the most internationally famous harls of all time. After his death he was exhibited at Yale University’s Peabody Museum in New Haven as an example of the taxidermist’s art and the representative of Great Danes in the museum’s “Dogs of All Breeds” collection.

Shortly before the end of the war, Domino saved the life of his owner, Professor Hoesch, during an air-raid in Hanover, by throwing himself over the professor; but Domino himself was hit by a bomb splinter and killed.
