Waggin' Tails Miniature Dachshunds

Female Puppies

                         AKC/CKC Registration

Please Note: All puppies will be sold with limited registration. If you want full registration for breeding privileges, I will be EXTREMELY picky and VERY thorough, requiring:

  • your knowledge of: Dachshunds in general, nutrition, medical & health issues, worms & wormers, vaccines & immunity, genetics, etc.
  • exact details of your breeding program, how the puppy will be bred, how your mothers-to-be are kept, what they are fed, etc.
  • exact details of how you screen applicants for your puppies, a copy of the contract the puppies will be placed with, information that you supply to the new owners of your puppies, etc.
  • hardcopy documentation of the above, plus numerous references from vets, other breeders and previous customers.
And no, I will NOT sell a puppy with limited registration and then change it to full registration later on. You must prove to me BEFORE  (not after) you get the puppy that you are a knowledgeable breeder.

Absolutely NO backyard breeders, puppymillers or irresponsible breeders need apply. We do not sell to breeders who create "designer puppies" by mixing breeds, or who try to create "micro mini Dachshunds."

This sounds like a lot, but I want to make DARN sure that none of the puppies I place will be used to create neglected or unwanted puppies. Honestly, if I don't know you already, you'll have to convince me that you are a VERY knowledgeable and VERY compassionate breeder.

                                 Deposit

If you have applied and been approved for a puppy, I will require a $100 non-refundable deposit if you want me to hold the puppy of your choice for you until he/she is old enough for you to bring home. The deposit, of course, will be deducted from the price of the puppy.

Why a "non-refundable deposit"?  We are extremely selective in choosing homes for our puppies. If an approved family changes their mind at the last minute, then we have lost the other approved homes, which we turned away, who were also interested in that (now older) puppy. Since we are extremely selective of the folks who apply for a puppy, we dislike losing a great home. Many other breeders are now charging $200 or more for a deposit, and many are demanding deposits for puppies that aren't even born yet. We want to keep things fair, for both the families getting the puppies and ourselves.

We have bred Sparky to Rikki. Puppies are expected in the possible colors of: Red Piebald, Black & Tan Piebald and Chocolate & Tan Piebald. The babies are likely to be smooth. Previous puppies from the same parents can be seen on the 'Past Puppies' page; Bam Bam, Katie, Bailey, Cookie, Stanley and Odella Puppy Dumpling.

Misty is now in season (after being rested her last season) and will be bred to Khaki. Puppies are expected in the possible colors of Black & Tan, Chocolate & Tan, Blue & Tan and Isabella & Tan - all will be Dapples, and probably reverse Dapples. Previous puppies from the same parents can be seen on the 'Past Puppies' page; Harvey, Juice, Lilli, Magic, Fergie, Lexy and Limerick.

Several other of our girls (who were rested their last season) will be bred this summer and fall.

Please see the "Past Puppies" page to view the puppies which have been placed. Each puppy has his/her own webpage which contains pictures of the puppy from babyhood until placed with his/her new family.

If you are interested in a puppy, please see the "Purchasing a Puppy" page.

The phrase commonly seen on many breeder websites and ads "Hurry, get your puppy now - they are going/will go fast!"  really turns me off. "Hurrying" is the LAST thing you should do when purchasing a puppy. Most of those breeders will sell to anyone, their only concern is getting the puppy "out the door" and the "money in hand" as soon as possible. And impulse puppy buyers rarely provide the proper home and care - simply because they rushed into something they weren't prepared for. Raising a baby (human or canine) takes a LOT of work.

I could give two hoots if our puppies are all placed or not. If the right home doesn't come along - guess what - that baby (or babies) will join our family and stay here their entire lives.

Do NOT "hurry and purchase a puppy" - ever. A LOT of time and thought should be given to the life-changing event of bringing a puppy into your home. You are choosing a family member who will be with you for years and years, and will need a lot of care, particularly during the first year.
